BCH is committed to making a positive contribution to your neighbourhood. During the winter months our partnering contractor, Fylde Council, have been working hard to maintain our communal green spaces ahead of the cutting season.
Where possible, communal green spaces managed by BCH will have the following works completed before the end of March 2026:
- Shrub beds, bushes and hedges trimmed
- Weed treatment to pathways
Acting on your views
Throughout the last cutting season, we listened to your views and gathered information to identify and prioritise areas for additional grounds maintenance works.
We're pleased to inform you that the following works are due to be completed over the coming weeks:
Edmonton Place - Reduce height of raised bed, week commencing 26th January 2026*
Following resident concerns and inspection during a Neighbourhood Walkabout, a raised bed at the entrance to Edmonton Place will be reduced in height and the plants will then be replanted.
Lowmoor Community Centre has also benefitted from works as part of the Winter Grounds Maintenance, including tidying up the garden and removing a wooden trellis that had collapsed at the side of the centre.
Washington Court - Repair a raised bed, week commencing 26th January 2026*
During a Neighbourhood Walkabout, a resident who maintains a raised bed advised BCH staff that a wooden sleeper supporting the raised bed edges was deteriorating. The wood due to be removed at Edmonton Place will be utilised to refurbish this so it remains fit for use.
Ibbison Court - Tidy up planters, week commencing 2nd February 2026*
It was identified during a Neighbourhood Walkabout that planters in the area require maintenance. Following an inspection with Fylde Council, it has been agreed that the planters will be tidied up and weeds removed.
Claremont Court - Installation of a raised flower bed, week commencing 2nd February 2026*
Feedback from residents as part of the 2025 Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM’s) survey highlighted that the grassed area at Claremont Court is a hotspot location for fly tipping. To help combat this, Fylde Council will install a raised flower bed and include planting flowers.
Newby Place - Reinstate grassed area, 11th February 2026*
Our partnering contractor, Fylde Council, identified that the 5 community planters at Newby Place required extensive repair. In December 2025, we sent a short survey to residents in the area to gain feedback on the use of these planters. 100% of those who responded confirmed that the planters are no longer used and were in favour for these to be removed and the grassed area reinstated. As a result of this feedback, work has been scheduled to complete this along with tidying up wood borders.
*Please note, work is dependent on weather conditions and may need to be rescheduled
