Grounds maintenance - our commitment to you

• Before grass is cut, visible litter will be removed
• Grassed areas will be cut fortnightly between April and October (see Schedule of Works below for more information)
• Grass cuttings will be blown from paths on the same day where weather permits
• Grass around fixed items will be strimmed
• Edging of all grass areas will be strimmed (not sprayed) as required to maintain a good appearance

During wet weather, or when the ground is waterlogged, grass cutting may be suspended at which time grass may exceed the normal height of a maintained site.

• Will be maintained between October and March or pruned at the correct time of year depending on the species
• All litter and weeds will be removed
• Weeds will be treated as per a treatment programme
• Will be pruned if causing an obstruction

• Routine inspections are undertaken on a 3 year programme
• Any identified works will take place during winter months

• All visible weed growth will be treated 3 times a year
• Defects and any potential slip, trip and fall hazards will be addressed

Will be maintained where issues are identified

Will be removed within 5 working days once reported to the ASB and Neighbourhoods Team.

Will be cleared on each visit if covered with grass cuttings or showing signs of blockage.

Needs to be reported to the ASB and Neighbourhoods Team along with a photo if possible and will be removed within 5 working days (timescale may be extended if specialist treatment is required).

Should be reported to the ASB and Neighbourhoods Team who will investigate and report this through to Blackpool Council and/or Police to investigate.

Street lighting is Blackpool Council's responsibility and should be reported directly to them with the identifying number which can be found on each street light. This can be done using this link Blackpool Council | Street lights | Traffic lights | Faults.

Between April and October, weather depending.

Due to the cost of this, it is not something we are able to do. In addition, there are benefits to the health of the grass when cuttings are left due to natural fertiliser and this provides protection from extreme heat during dry spells in summer. 

Site improvements including:

• Planting and pruning of trees on a priority basis
• Pruning and replacement of bushes and shrub beds
• Grass edging maintenance

Between February and August during which time we don't do any tree/hedge cutting or site clearance. Where works have to be undertaken a pre-works survey is carried out. All supervisors carry out pre-work nest checks during this time. If nesting birds are found the works are postponed once the site is made safe.

The weather and ground conditions play a big part in this. If it is too wet, heavy equipment will turn grass to mud and lighter equipment won't have the desired effect as the grass sticks together. If it is too hot, the grass can die and may not grow back. The Grounds Maintenance Team will assess the ground before conducting works.
