Blackpool Coastal Housing (BCH) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards where possible.
This website is run by Blackpool Coastal Housing. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- Board minutes and agendas
- most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- MyBCH self-service portal, which is an external system
- some transactional forms (for example Corporate Complaint Procedure)
- videos do not have captions
- links may not describe their purpose
- in page buttons may not announce their function to screen reader software
- on the homepage the tabbing does select the cookie banner until the end
You can find information about making your device more accessible via Scope and AbilityNet.

Technical information about this website's accessibility
PDF's and other documents
Some of our PDF's are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDF's with financial information and also information on how users can access our services.
We have assessed the cost of re-authoring all such content and believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We aim to reassess the viability of re-authoring all such documents once we have fully audited the accessibility of all of our websites and their content.
When this content is renewed it is created in an accessible format.
Accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDF's or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDF's or other non HTML documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of our site and carry out manual and automated tests throughout the year on a random selection of content.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 13th October 2025.
This website was last tested in September 2025 in-house using automated and manual testing. We tested a random selection of pages each representing a different template type used on our website.
Translating this website
Online
Our website is compatible with language translation software.
To translate into another language, we recommend Google Translate website service. You’ll need to type our website address www.bch.co.uk into the site and press the blue arrow to proceed. It will open in a new window and you can select a language at the top of each page.
You can also translate specific documents within the website by saving them to your device and then uploading them to Google's document translation service.
In writing
Translating into foreign languages takes time, is expensive, and often does not resolve the customer’s enquiry, and so we don’t usually offer written translations. If needed, we will translate legal documents, such as a notice to end a tenancy. We can offer some translation services on documents on request.
Other formats
Documents published by Blackpool Coastal Housing can be produced in a variety of formats on request. These formats can include audio, Braille and alternative document type (e.g. Word, pdf), face to face meeting, telephone call).
