BCH is proud to have been shortlisted for 2 awards at the upcoming Northern Housing Awards 2025.
Since launching in 2018, the mission of the Northern Housing Awards has been to celebrate the individuals and organisations transforming homes and communities across the North, showcasing the very best in innovation, impact, and excellence.
We are finalists for the following 2 awards:
Best Affordable Housing Development (£15m+) (Grange Park Development)
The £20 million Grange Park Development Project saw the construction of 96 affordable houses, five bungalows and 30 sheltered apartments. The new properties are modern and energy efficient, but designed to blend into their surroundings.
The development includes a range of new technology, such as air source heat pumps and solar panels. Properties are designed to ensure that customer energy bills are as low as possible.
A new play area was created to serve the new builds and the wider community. The equipment included in this was consulted on with local residents, and includes provision for disabled young people. Safe and accessible walkways have also been created throughout the estate

Supported/Sheltered Housing Scheme of the Year (Harvest Court)
Our Sheltered Housing service provides high quality, safe and secure accommodation for people who want to live independently in the community but need some support. We manage 21 schemes across the Blackpool area. Harvest Court is our newest sheltered scheme located on the new Grange Park Development.
As with all Blackpool Council sheltered schemes, Harvest Court is entirely for people over the age of 55, or people with specific support needs. The ground floor flats are let to customers with wheelchairs or other mobility conditions, and there are purpose built storage sheds for mobility scooters to be stored and charged.
Feedback from the consultation process at the start of the development project has influenced the design, enabling a more successful scheme where the needs of sheltered tenants have been at the forefront of considerations. With the potential for future adaptations, and space in the units themselves, this all helps with people living independently who may otherwise be in care.

The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday 1st May 2025.
