Blackpool Coastal Housing, on behalf of the Landlord (Blackpool Council), is responsible for gas safety inspections and the care and maintenance of gas installation and appliances throughout the Council’s housing stock.
As part of your lease, along with ensuring the property is kept in a good state of repair and condition, you must arrange for safety inspections to be carried out each year. You also need to provide a copy of the Gas Safety Certificate to Blackpool Coastal Housing.
If you are sub-letting or intend to sub-let, it is a legal responsibility that you arrange for and produce an annual Gas Safety Certificate. You are responsible for arranging the inspections at your own cost. Blackpool Coastal Housing together with our Gas Contractors offer a Gas Safety Care & Maintenance scheme.
The scheme covers breakdowns to your heating and hot water system as well as the annual gas service/safety inspection. The cost of £162.71 + VAT will be reviewed annually. It is not included in your Leasehold Services Charges and will be payable by you in full in advance.
If you are interested in joining the scheme please contact the Homeownership Team on 01253 477983.
Please note:
- Acceptance onto the scheme will be subject to prior inspection and approval by Blackpool Coastal Housing’s Gas Services Officer.
- If the existing appliances pass the initial inspection we will contact you and ask you to pay to join the scheme and will provide you with a copy of the full Terms & Conditions of the scheme.
- Once payment has been received we will arrange for our Gas Contractors to visit to undertake an annual gas safety inspection and to issue a Gas Safety Certificate.
If you do not wish to join this scheme there are two options available to you: You can arrange directly with our Gas Contractor to have an annual Gas Safety Certificate issued or you can arrange your own Gas Safety inspections with a Gas Safe registered installer.
It is important that you forward a copy of the Gas Safety Certificate to Blackpool Coastal Housing, Coastal House, 17-19 Abingdon Street, Blackpool, FY1 1DG.
