Following submissions to the Northern Housing Awards, BCH is proud to have been shortlisted for all 4 categories entered. The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on Tuesday 17th May 2022 in Manchester. BCH has been shortlisted in the following categories:
Best Approach to Diversity and Inclusion
For BCH's approach to a diverse workforce, our openness and promotion of mental health and wellbeing issues, our partnership with Leftcoast and our housing plus models, where we undertake a range of services for the Council that help promote equality of opportunity for all groups.
Best Approach to Employee Wellbeing
This includes signing up to Time to Change, staff undertaking Mental Health First Aid training and our workplace Champions who meet in the Wellbeing Group. In addition the entry included Staff Consultation Group, staff attending Physical Activities Co-ordinator training, Wednesday Wellbeing and accommodating flexible working arrangements to support work life balance.
Best Initiative for Tackling Homelessness
This is for BCH's intensive support and housing provision offered to care leavers and homeless young people, including Positive Transitions, William Lyons House, Claire Street and Bispham House.
Resident Support/Advice Programme of the Year
This is for the outcomes BCH's Activities Co-ordinator, Debbie Kerr, has achieved including establishing from scratch a multi-agency network SPARKS that now includes over 200 services and organisations, enabling providers to raise awareness of what they offer Blackpool residents, promoting collaboration and reducing duplication. In addition a befriending service to was established to improve resident wellbeing and reduce loneliness and isolation.
Over the past few years BCH has sought to become more innovative and collaborative in trying to deliver our vision of ‘inspiring people to build better communities’.
