The Role of the Board
The Board
The BCH Board of Management has Non Executive Directors from three backgrounds - customers (four Tenants and one Leaseholder), elected member nominees of Blackpool Council and Independent Directors appointed by the other members of the Board for their knowledge, skills and experience. Following a review of the governance of the Council's subsidiary companies the Board is being reduced from 15 to 12, still split equally between the three groups above.
The role of the Board of Management is:
• To act in the best interests of Blackpool Coastal Housing and all its customers:
– Customer Directors do not represent the areas in which they live and the
Leaseholder Director does not represent Leaseholders alone
– Council Nominated Directors do not represent their electoral ward
• To establish and maintain confidence in
– the conduct of Blackpool Coastal Housing,
– the performance of the management team,
– the development of strategy,
– the adequacy of financial controls and risk management procedures
• To support, constructively challenge and monitor the management team
– Directors are not involved in the detail of day-to-day management
The Board meets six times per year and is supported by two Board Committees that meet with the same frequency.. They are:
- Finance, Audit & Corporate Services
- Service Development
