The Scheme Manager
Sheltered housing
Scheme Managers usually work Monday to Friday from 8am until 4:30pm.
Their duties include:
- Helping newcomers to settle in and explain how everything works, including Support Plans.
- Making regular contact with tenants as agreed in their individual Support Plan.
- Providing general counselling and support accessing any services relevant to tenants needs.
- Assisting tenants to apply for housing benefit and council tax, welfare grants or loans.
- Referring tenants to Social Services for assessment, equipment and adaptations if required.
- Contacting relatives and calling a doctor or ambulance in an emergency.
- Being responsible for helping to develop the community within their Scheme and will facilitate Scheme activities.
- Assist in finding solutions to neighbourhood problems
- Work with the local Police to create safe and secure neighbourhoods
The Scheme Manager DOES NOT:
- Collect pensions, prescriptions or do shopping.
- Have responsibilities for tenant's finances.
- Provide care.
- Administer medication.
