First you need to join Blackpool Council’s Housing Register if you are not already on it. To do this you need to complete an application form. You can get one at the following places:
Housing Applications Team, South King Street
Customer First Team, Municipal Buildings, Corporation Street
Homestop, Coastal House, Abingdon Street
Grange Park Housing Office, Chepstow Court
Queens Park Housing Office, Laycock Gate
Mereside Housing Office, Langdale Place
You can either complete an online application or print off an application form to be completed in writing by clicking on the forms button above. Information on the banding criteria are also available by clicking on the leafelts button above.
You cannot bid if you are not registered! But it is quick and easy to get started.
Who Can Apply to the Housing Register
You can apply for council housing and be included in the register if you:
- are over 16, (although we will not usually offer you a property until you are over 18) AND
- have a permanent right to live in the United Kingdom.
However, we may not include you on the register if you:
- have had legal action taken against you for violence, harassment, threatening behaviour or Anti Social Behaviour, OR
- a member of your household have been convicted of a serious criminal offence, such as aggravated burglary, drug related crime, rape or murder.
What if I need help registering
If you need extra help registering with Blackpool Council please contact Housing Applications Team, Adult Social Care and Housing, South King Street, Blackpool, FY1 4TR, telephone number 01253 477980 or via email to housing.allocations@blackpool.gov.uk
What happens next
Once the applications team have received your completed application form together with all the documentation that has been requested, your application will then be assessed and you will be placed in a "Band". There are five bands.
- Band A +
- Band A
- Band B+
- Band B
- Band C
For details of the banding criteria please see the leaflets page.
You will receive a letter from the housing applications team telling you if you are a priority, which band you are in and the type of accommodation you are registered for. If you are not accepted onto the Housing Register you will receive a letter telling you the reason for this decision and explaining your right to a review.
You will receive information at this stage on how to place bids for properties.
Blackpool Coastal Housing works in partnership with Muir Group Housing Association and Great Places Housing Group, so if you join the housing register you can also make a bid for some Housing Association properties on the Grange Park Estate. Housing Associations’ policies may differ and they will make the final decision on who they offer their properties to.
