Bill Rogers - VICE CHAIR
I am proud to have been born and bred in Blackpool and have been a Council Tenant all my life. Since 2004 I have been a committee member of my local Tenants Association and have become heavily involved in Tenant issues from repairs to maintenance planning, community awareness and involvement, tenant participation for all. I have acquired a knowledge and understanding of the needs and aspirations of the tenants and leaseholders of not only my own area but throughout Blackpool.
I started my working life an apprentice bricklayer with a local company and moved into the leisure industry, working for a multinational company and becoming the Assistant Maintenance Manager for the North West. My experience enables me to communicate easily at all levels.
As a Director of Blackpool Coastal Housing I am fully committed to improving the housing stock and the service to its customers. |

Janet Stirling
I have lived in Blackpool for thirty years and have recently retired. I spent the majority of my working life in the tourism and hotel industry and believe that I understand what good customer service should be. It is this experience and understanding of customer service that I will use to ensure that Blackpool Coastal Housing customers’ are served well.
I am involved with Grange Park Residents’ Association and I have enjoyed putting something back into my own community by working with the association to improve our area. Improvement works were carried out in my own home not so long ago and I was impressed with the standard of work. I look forward to working within the board to help ensure that the standard remains excellent and that tenants are happy with the work.
I am prepared to give my time to make sure I am trained in all the right areas of Blackpool Coastal Housing’s business. For me this is a very interesting and exciting opportunity.
I see the role of board member as being one member of an important team. I will act with honesty and integrity and I will use my caring and positive attitude to ensure that the Board is focussed on providing good services to all tenants and leaseholders.

Alison Stringer
I was born in Blackpool and have been a council Tenant all my life. I am a member of Grange Park Residents Association, The Tenant Liaison Forum and The Area Forums. I am also a Parent Governor at Layton Primary School.
Through being involved with these various groups I already have a link with the tenants and leaseholders and I am used to attending meetings and making decisions with local authorities and organisations that provide a service to the community. This not only gives me a chance to put something back into my home town, but is also a challenging and productive use of my time. I feel that by being a Tenant Director on The ALMO Board I can take my involvement in helping the community further.

Doreen Wightman - CHAIR
I have been a Blackpool Tenant since 1984 and became a leaseholder in 2003. In 2000 we started our local Tenants Association to work with the Council to improve our homes and community. As the chairperson of our group I have worked hard to get an insight into tenant needs and an understanding of council run social housing. I believe in the importance of tenant and leaseholder involvement in managing our homes.
I work full time for a local charity and feel this gives me a good insight into the governance of not for profit organisations. My working life has given me the experience in dealing with people, finance, human resources, employment law and marketing.
As a Director of Blackpool Coastal Housing I want to ensure it becomes a viable company and one which will work to achieve the best it can for its tenants and leaseholders. |
