The Board

cllr ron bell      Councillor Ron Bell JP
Following nine years in the Royal Marines I took up a career in Sales & Marketing within the banking and finance industry and worked for a number of large British and American banks. Over the last twenty years my appointments have included: National Sales Manager, National Training Manager, Regional Director and Operations Director and in 1992 I set up my own management consultancy.

I have further experience of collections and recovery, customer services, project management, and all aspects of the finance industry with particular emphasis on consumer and mortgage lending. More recently I have been involved in developing and maintaining a property portfolio.

Born in Blackpool and married with three children I am also a member of HM Independent Monitoring Board, a School Governor, a Justice of the Peace and I act as PRO and sit as a Trustee on the national council of the Royal Marines Association.

Councillor Simon Blackburn
I have been a Labour member of Blackpool Borough Council since 2003, and now represent Brunswick Ward, containing, at its heart, the Queens Park Estate. I work for a local charity, which provides support to homeless young people and I have a keen interest in promoting and defending those most in need of Social Housing.

I am a Labour member of the Local Government Association Scrutiny Panel, Vice-Chair of Governors at my son’s school, a management committee member of Blackpool Boy & Girls Club, as well as a longstanding trade unionist and CND member – and I am also the Labour Chief Whip and Chair of the Council’s Audit Committee.

I serve on the Finance and Audit Sub-Committee of the BCH board, and am dedicated to ensuring that as much money as possible is spent directly on improving the physical and social environment of tenants.

Councillor Tim Cox
Involved in the community and a leader with multiple youth organisations, I was elected to Blackpool Council in May 2007, becoming Blackpool's youngest ever councillor at 26 years old. I am a director of a national charity, and a Governor at both Montgomery Language College and Bispham Endowed School. I became the youngest ever member of General Synod (the governing body of the Church of England) when elected aged 20, and am now in my second term. I am a member of Bishop's Council, on the Standing Committees of the Diocese, Deanery and Parish. Having previously served as Chairman of 2 Wards, and Deputy Chairman of Blackpool North and Fleetwood, I still serve on multiple other bodies including 3 overview and scrutiny committees.

The son of the local vicar and a teacher, I am the eldest of four and a qualified IT engineer. My interests include computers, swimming, reading, playing rugby, cycling and volunteering.

Councillor Joan Greenhalgh
I was born in Blackpool and attended local schools. During the 15 years that I have represented Clifton Ward I’ve served on a variety of committees and working groups and also visited other councils and localities to see how they operate.

I’ve been a school governor for 20 years, Vice-Chair of our community centre and also served on the Community Health Council for 12 years. Most of my life I have been involved in community groups and projects. For the last 22 years prior to my retirement I worked for Thorn Electrical in the TV industry as an administrator.

I’m looking forward to working with my fellow directors at Blackpool Coastal Housing to help provide and promote a service to enhance the lives of both tenants and leaseholders.

I was born in Blackpool and have lived in a number of wards in the town: Talbot, Bispham and Marton. I was elected to the Council to represent Marton Ward and I have been appointed to a number of committees: Development Control and Children's Services.

In my voluntary roles I am a Governor of my local school, Treasurer for the BLESMA home in Blackpool as well as Chairman of the Fylde-Ex-Service Liaison Committee. I am looking forward to forming and developing Blackpool Coastal Housing for the benefit of the community.
