Blackpool Coastal Housing has undergone a rigorous procurement process over the last 18 months to secure the services of 5 Partnering Contactors to work with BCH for the Decent Homes Programme.
Below are introductions to each of the successful partners, along with links to their own websites.
Read & Errington
As a Blackpool based company Read & Errington, have been selected as one of Blackpool Coastal Housing's partner companies. Martin Read, Alan Errington and Graham Read founded the company in August 1996, with a total workforce of six. Over the past 12 years, the Company has steadily grown. We are based at Kincraig Road and now employ 50 staff, 12 have come through the Company's apprentice training scheme.
They are committed to supporting the local community and have provided a large amount of permanent employment in the town. Improving on their own high
standards are important with a continued commitment to customer involvement on all their schemes of work.
BAAS Construction
BAAS Construction is a family owned Building Contractor working exclusively for Local Authorities and Social Landlords throughout the North West for over 28 years. They have completed refurbishments to over 7000 homes over the past 3 years, working in close partnership with customers who have received the improvements. Being committed to a totally customer focused approach has been the key to BAAS's success.
Customer satisfaction is their primary aim through developing long lasting relationships with customers. At every stage of an improvement project the customers are fully involved with the assistance of their dedicated Customer Liaison Officer.
As part of their commitment to improving the local jobs market, BAAS encourage residents to take up employment opportunities with them. This includes ensuring local manufacturers are used to supply their building materials.
Gary Anderson, BAAS's Commercial Director was enthusiastic in his company's appointment; “Blackpool Coastal Housing is about to undertake a major investment programme over the next five years and we are pleased and proud, to have been selected to work with them. We intend to play a full role in ensuring that this major investment achieves maximum benefit for BCH tenants and the wider community in Blackpool”.
Connaught Partnerships Ltd
Connaught has been working in partnership with Blackpool Council since 2004. In this time they have carried out improvements to over 370 homes within the Borough. Working alongside local contractors including Read and Errington improvement work has been done to replace kitchens, bathrooms, heating
systems and full rewires to customers homes.
Whilst working in Blackpool Connaught has supported the local economy and has recruited 80% of its staff and workforce from the local area. To help deliver the new programme of works they have already recruited four plumbing and joinery apprentices. In addition links with Bispham College have been established to encourage apprentices and trainees of the future. Connaught has developed excellent working partnerships with local subcontractors and suppliers including Read and Errington, Howdens Kitchens and Plumbing Trade Supplies.
An exceptional 100% customer satisfaction was achieved on their four most recent schemes with BCH. Connaught look forward to continue working in partnership with BCH to deliver excellent improvement work.
Herbert T Forrest
Herbert T Forrest has been providing building services since 1955. As part of their commitment to local employment they have ensured that 85% of their workforce comes from the local community and where possible they purchase building materials from local suppliers. Their dedicated tenant liaison officers work in partnership with tenants regarding the improvement work in their homes, and are proud of their excellent customer satisfaction rate. Commitments to providing both a high standard of service and quality products have earned Forrest an outstanding reputation, which they bring to Blackpool.
Mears
